Cedric Mah: Chinese Canadian Air Hero

May is Asian Heritage Month and the CAHS would like to celebrate one of Canada's great pilots of Asian descent, Cedric Mah, who recently passed away. From battling prejudice in the RCAF, to flying "The Hump" during the Second World War, to bush flying in Canada's Northwest and Arctic, his career illuminates so many aspects of aviation history.

Squadron Pennant Comes Home

CAHS Member Carl Mills discovered the 110 (400) Squadron pennant in 2010. After “many telephone calls and some luck,” he found the 71-year-old original in Albany, NY just in time for the squadron’s 80th anniversary next year. Read about his experience and the history behind it.

This photos shows LAC W.K. Rock and LAC T.S. Wong preparing for final exams at 9 EFTS in November 1943.  Both graduated as pilots but too late to proceed overseas. Of note, Rock was commissioned on 2 June 1944 and ended the war as a Flying Officer.  After the war he became a well-known and respected doctor in Windsor, setting up his practice in 1952 and was even the city's coroner.
