CAHS Toronto Chapter members enjoyed a long-awaited and much-anticipated return to in-person meetings at the Canadian Forces College on 3 February 2024. “The Legacy of Robert Bradford” featured guest presenter Kathyrn Bradford Stevens, daughter of the renowned Bob Bradford, in conversation with John Bertram, Chapter 1st VP.
Kathyrn spoke easily about her father’s life and many achievements. He was an exceptional Canadian aviation artist and historian, Second World War pilot, Order of Canada recipient, member of Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame, Patron of the CAHS, technical illustrator at Avro Canada and de Havilland Canada, past director of Canada’s national aviation museum in Ottawa, designer of 16 Canadian postage stamps, and much more. It was a most rewarding session in honour of a man who was a true gentleman.
The meeting concluded with a social at the Armour Heights Officers’ Mess, where Kathryn had set up an impressive display of Bob Bradford’s work around the room.
Credit for the attached photos of the presentation is shared by Mike McAllister, John Bertram, and Geoff Pyne. Eric Roscoe has used Photoshop to edit the pictures for the newsletter.
