Bomber Command Museum  – Updates

Continuing with their work on restoring a Halifax bomber, the team at Bomber Command Museum of Canada at Nanton has worked hard to collect many parts over the last three years.
Here they have Halifax prop hubs, domes, spiders and parts that have been recovered from all over England and Holland. Not only very rare, but Halifax steel prop hubs are ¾ of an inch bigger in all dimensions than Lancaster hubs due to the greater horsepower of the Hercules engine over the Merlin.  
 Later this year Bomber Command is expecting the Halifax wing center section to be delivered from Ottawa. Knox Tech in Ottawa is currently working on the center section, measuring a total of 29 x 8 feet. While incredible progress is being made on this reconstruction, the cost to get these repairs done remains high, and the need for funds is ongoing. The progress being made on the Hercules engines is also underway with the engine #3 rebuild. The refurbishment with removal and replacement of rusty heads, cylinders and sleeves is now complete as of February 27, 2021. 
Up next in late 2021 will be the #4 Hercules Engine.  ​
