A 6-7 July Open House celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the RCAF proved to be an outstanding success for the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.

The colourful static display of visiting aircraft included the CF-18 Demo Team Hornet, CC-150 Polaris, CC-130 Hercules, CC-144 Challenger, CH-147 Chinook, CC-138 Twin Otter, CF-18B Hornet, Hannu Halminen’s P-51 Mustang, and the Waterloo Warbirds CT-133 Silver Star.

Sunny skies prevailed. The final attendance count was 3,046 visitors on 6 July and 2,614 on 7 July.

CWHM CEO Dave Rohrer, in a message to staff and volunteers, noted the event “exceeded every expectation we could have imagined…the teamwork, professionalism, camaraderie, and extra effort was exceptional.”

It was a pleasure to be a tour guide on 6 July, meeting visitors --- many from the Greater Toronto Area and beyond --- who were really impressed with the museum and keen to learn more about aviation.  What a remarkable weekend, enjoyed by all.
