Bud White's 96th Birthday Party

11 December 2024 was Bud White’s 96th birthday and a group of his Canadair F-86 Sabre, Canadair CF-104 Starfighter, and Air Force Officers' Association friends took him out to lunch at the Flying Beaver restaurant, at the seaplane terminal at Sea Island Airport.

Jay Durant from Global TV was there and taped a long interview with Bud (and a short one with me), which he published on the Global News Hour at 6 PM.

See photos below from the party of Bud and his daughter, Patty, plus some of his friends... and a shot of Bud with his beloved Navion, which he was still flying a couple of years ago, but has now sold.


Saturday, 14 December 2024, was the 57th Anniversary of the day that Bud set the Canadian altitude record of 101,100 feet in an F-104A Starfighter, a record which has not yet been broken.
