Canvas of War
Masterpieces from the Canadian War Museum

Night Traffic, Gander, Newfoundland
Painted in 1945 by Albert Cloutier (1902–1965)

"Great nations write their autobiographies in three manuscripts: the book of deeds, the book of their words, and the book of their art. Not one of these books can be understood unless we read the two others; but of the three the only quite trustworthy one is the last."
- John Ruskin, St. Mark's Rest.

Canvas of War is the most comprehensive exhibition ever mounted from the Canadian War Museum's extensive war art collection. In all, seventy oil paintings and three large sculptural groups created for the Vimy Memorial in France are showcased. Click here to go to the website. Generously supported by the Donner Canadian Foundation.
