The monthly meeting of the Montreal chapter of the
Canadian Aviation Historical Society will take place at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday,
Feb. 26th, 2003 in the Rose Room 7C5 of
Dawson College.
3040 Sherbrooke St. W. The guest speaker will be our own Alastair Reeves who
will talk about "Japanese Balloon Bombs" that menaced our west coast in the
Second World War. Perhaps we can compare this with the new weaponry contemplated
for use in Iraq.
As this year is the
100th anniversary of
flight, please consider a visit this summer to Nova Scotia, birthplace of
powered flight in Canada. The CAHS national conference will take place June 4-8
with reasonable accommodation at the centrally located
St.
Mary's University. This is the first time that
Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame's prestigious induction ceremonies will take
place during this same period on the evening of Saturday, June 7th.
The guest speaker on the evening of Friday, June 6th,
will be Ron Davies, Curator of Air Transport from the
Smithsonian Institute in Washington, who will
speak on the theme of the directions of air transport in the 21st century, based
on the lessons of history.
