Hi, everyone.
Unfortunately, our intended speaker, a Mosquito pilot, withdrew a week ago, and so it has been a bit of a scramble to find someone else. Bill Cameron, a WCAM volunteer and ex-Air Force ATC type, has jumped into the breach with his slides of aviation museums in the US, Europe, and Canada.
Our November meeting will be Thursday, 27 November. In honour of the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first flight, we will present a history of aviation in Manitoba before 1927

Hi, everyone.
Hope you all had a good summer. Mine was about two weeks long (seemed that way, anyway).
We're off to a good start this autumn with Don Fonger. Don, as many of you know, flew his Twin Comanche around the world, and wrote the book, Challenging the Skies, describing his experiences. Don has a great presentation and lots of good flying stories to tell. I'm sure it will be a most interesting evening.
The meeting is on Thursday 25 September, starting at 7 p.m. at the aviation museum. As usual, admission is free, and we provide coffee and doughnuts. Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends, relatives, and hangers-on.
Hope to see you all there.

Hi, everyone.
I hope to see you all out at the meeting this Thursday. This month we have CAHS Manitoba Chapter treasurer Bill Norberg as speaker. Bill spent many years working in the TCA / Air Canada maintenance department, starting in 1940, and eventually rising to Vice President in charge of maintenance. Bill will bring along some slides as well.
As always, we will offer free coffee and doughnuts, lots of airplane talk, and a pleasant evening with friends at the Western Canada Aviation Museum.
And it's always nice to be a little ahead. I'm pleased to contradict my previous announcement about the May meeting being the last until September. Major Rob Parker has kindly agreed to speak to us on Thursday, 26 June, about his experiences flying CF-18's over Kosovo. We will take July and August off, and start up again on Thursday, 25 September, with Don Fonger. Don flew around the world in a Piper twin, and wrote a book about his experiences.
Please invite anyone you think may be interested in these meetings. We are always trying to boost our attendance. As usual, I have attached a poster that you can print out and post, or pass on to others.
See you on Thursday.

Hi, everyone.
This month we have Peter Banman speaking for us. Peter worked for many years at the Winnipeg International Airport, and took photos of many of the different aircraft that flew from, or passed through, YWG. I'm sure this will be very interesting for those of us who have worked at or visited the airport.
This month's meeting will take place (as usual) at the Western Canada Aviation Museum, 958 Ferry Road, on Thursday, 27 March. It starts at 7 p.m. As usual, we offer free admission, coffee, and doughnuts. Please come out, and invite a friend or two.
Also, this weekend (22nd and 23rd), the Aviation Museum is holding its annual Planes, Trains, and Sails exhibit. This is a display of radio controlled models in the museum's hangar. There are also displays by various groups, including CAHS. Come out and say hello. The event runs from 10 - 4 on Saturday and Sunday.
Our April meeting will take place on Thursday 24 April at WCAM. Hope to see you there.
By the way, the Aviation Museum has acquired a replica of the Avrocar (Bill Zuk spoke about the Avrocar at our November meeting). Stop in to the museum and check it out.

As usual, we will meet at the Western Canada Aviation Museum, 958 Ferry Road, on the last Thursday of the month, 30 January, at 7 p.m. We hope to have a pair of pilots from 435 (Transport and Rescue) Squadron at 17 Wing. One of the pilots is a search and rescue pilot, the other has just returned from a stint on Op Apollo, Canada's current effort against Al Qaeda in the Middle East.
We will also have to elect a new Chapter President (any volunteers?), VP, and Secretary. Bill Norberg has agreed to stay on as Treasurer. The election should only take a couple of minutes, as, remarkably, there is less competition for CAHS President than there is for leadership of the federal Liberal party.
We offer the usual incentives to attend, free doughnuts and coffee, and free admission, in exchange for a silver donation.
I hope to see you all there, to hear what should be a very interesting talk about Herc flying (if confirmed), or to watch me juggle chainsaws (if the planned speakers can't make it). Either way, we will have something worth coming out for.

Hello, everyone.
Sorry I'm a little slow, but here's what's coming up in the Manitoba
Chapter:
On Thursday, 31 Jan, we will have speakers Ted Jensen and Colin Craddock.
Ted Jensen flew the Viscount with TCA/AC. Colin Craddock is a first officer
with AC, flying the Airbus A320. It should be interesting to compare how
things have changed over the last forty years or so. Also, if time permits,
I may throw my two cents in, as I'm an AME on A320's with AC in Winnipeg.
I've attached the poster for the January meeting.
Two weeks later (date still to be finalised) we will have a tour of the Air Canada maintenance hangar in Winnipeg. Winnipeg is the main AC maintenance base for the A320. We usually have a couple of AC A320's in the hangar. As well, we do a lot of contract work for America West Airlines (Phoenix), Jet Blue (New York), and Air Jamaica.
In February, we will feature a former loadmaster on the C-119 Flying Boxcar and the C-130B Hercules, John Bonner. We also hope to have a loadie or a traffic tech from the Winnipeg air force base to speak about current activities.
I'm hoping that we will be able to get a regular newsletter off the ground sometime soon.
